Global companies and water management

Nordea has been a signatory to CDP Water Project since 2010, the aim of the project is to collect and spread information concerning water-related risks and opportunities.

The 2011 survey addressed 315 global companies with water-intensive production and water-related challenges.

The CDP Water Project report for 2011 was recently realized and a key finding is that a majority of responding companies have identified water as a substantial risk to their business. However, at board level water aspects are given far less attention than climate change.

This indicates that companies still do not fully understand that water is a critical issue that needs to be managed. Recent water-related event, such as the floods in Thailand and Cambodia, has a direct impact on not only millions on people living in the areas, but also local businesses and global companies with parts of their supply chains in these regions.
